Today at KinderCal I became very excited. For several days, Cal's daily report has said he's pottied successfully on the potty and stayed dry...all day! His teacher asked if tomorrow we wanted to bring underware for Cal to try out. Why not? Woo Hoo! Yes! Joy!
The middle:
Cal and I hit Target on the way home, purchasing a selection of briefs and yes - boxer briefs - for toddlers. I told him as a prize for being such a big boy, he could pick out a water gun. Only Target was out of water guns. Seriously? It's not even August! What to do? Cal saw a set of 3 water toys from Toy Story 3 and picked that as his prize...even turning down the larger, plastic, blinking, Buzz Lightyear, complete with sound effects. Sweet! Water toys are cheaper. Got in the car, opened his prize and we were about 1 mile from Target, before he started crying and asking for the "Big Buzz." Perhaps it was the fact the smaller water toy Buzz did not blink. Perhaps it was because he realized his mistake. Regardless, tears, boogers and sobbing ensued for the next 45 minutes. Despair!
The end:
We were able to eat dinner, before piling into the car with promises to re-visit Target and buy the "Big Buzz." Cal even said he'd give his water toys to "anoder liddle boy". Maybe it was mommy's 4 day craving for ice cream that pushed me to give in and agree to go and buy him Buzz (Dairy Queen conveniently located along the way). Maybe it was the fact I'm non-stop 8.5 mo preggers exhausted and tired of battling a 2 year old's demands. Regardless, he hasn't put "Big Buzz" down, ignored the Dairy Queen drive thru, and is ready to go to bed...with Buzz. Joy for Cal! Joy for Mommy!
