8 Months Old

Our Benny is 8 months old today! At 8 months, he's:

• Sporting two teeth and the tips of 2 others


• Sleeping for 5-6 hour stretches at night


• Eating lots of baby food and puffs/cherrios throughout the day. He seems to like everything we serve him. Nursing in the evening, night and early a.m. Using bottles at school, with some formula supplement.


• A rolling machine! Rolling from place to place - using his legs to push off of furniture and walls when he gets stuck. He continues to show a preference for using his legs to kick, to "hammer" to propel him around. He still refuses to spend much time on his tummy - immediately rolling to his side or back.


• Retaining his rosy red cheeks, blue eyes and reddish/blond hair.


• Practicing standing and walking


• Babbling "Dada" in between talking to himself. He also makes this heavy breathing noise all the time, which sounds like an excited, deep in the chest kind of laugh. He tends to shake his body when he does it.


• Great at playing with toys - passing them from hand to hand, playing his piano, chewing on his giraffe or juggling the balls from the mini-ball machine. He loves turning the pages of books.


• Quick to let you know if he's upset - he's really learned to turn up the volume on an angry cry. He has a strong preference for Mom - especially at night, making it difficult for Alan to help out. He's been known to cry for 1 hour + but then immediately shut down to quiet/sleep mode the minute I pick him up. Hopefully, we'll work on that this next month...


• Still full of smiles and laughs and has such a happy personality. He thinks Cal and Raja are extra funny. Alan lets Ben hand Raja treats, which both love.


• A huge fan of balloons - recently he got one from Red Robin and has spent a lot of time with it; trying to mouth it, chewing on the string, pulling it back and forth in front of him while sitting up.
