Our Sweet Ben

"Sweet" continues to be a word that defines our Ben. Ways in which this comes to life...

He wipes my hair out of my eyes, while telling me "You can't see, mama. There. Now you can." He does so, so gently and lovingly. Melts my heart each time. It's become a fun game of ours.

Lately he's into making baby sounds when especially happy or when wanting to show love. He'll give me a hug and say, "goo goo, ga." Weird, yes. But also a funny, sweet little way to express himself.

We get regular reports of how Ben treats his friends at school with gentleness and compassion. "Ben shared proactively with a friend today." "Ben made sure his friend was included." "Ben gives lots of hugs." Considering how crazy and rough Cal and Ben can be, this feedback always makes me so proud that yes, my boys are developing into kind little souls.
I recently feel down the stairs. Hard. While Cal immediately asked, "What happened?" Ben's reaction was to immediately start crying, while asking repeatedly, "You okay mama?" I know he was totally scared. He's told me everyday since, that I fell down the stairs and that I need to hold the hand rail. Then he gives a safety demonstration, "Like this, mama. Like this. See?"
