I am done! Finally, after two years of collecting fabrics, searching online for specialty prints and sewing away here or there, my pillowcase project is complete! A dear friend introduced me to the idea of putting a themed pillowcase on your child's pillow the week or day(s) prior to a holiday. I thought this was such a fun way to build excitement and anticipation that I started the project with Cal and 3 of his best friends in mind. Last week, I finished the last 3 cases, bringing my sewing grand total to 22 pillowcases. One lucky little girl will lay her head down on fabric imported from Australia! Due to a order-mishap, Cal will have the lone Birthday pillowcase. All will have Christmas, 4th of July, and Halloween head rests. Others include Valentine's Day, OSU Beavers and fun animal prints. I'm looking forward to giving these as gifts this Christmas. While I know the little ones won't be too excited opening fabric, I do hope that one day the kids will look back and remember the pillowcases from their childhood. I'll have to start my fabric collection again soon, since I will need to make an extra set for little Ben in 1.5 years!
