We survived week one of our return to work! The week had it's moments, but overall went pretty smoothly. I thought I could get up in the a.m. and get ready and out the door without waking anyone (like the days pre-Ben). But that didn't work out. Ben woke up every morning with me, and just hung out, talking away in his crib or bouncy seat. Alan of course, woke up when I did to help with Ben, and Cal was soon to follow. Regardless, I made it out the door after getting myself ready, prepping bags, making bottles and fixing lunch items. Every day I made it in before 8 a.m. A major feat considering it used to take me 2 hours to get ready and out the door! Now, I'm ready and at work in that time.
Cal and Ben started back at school. On Monday and Tuesday, Cal wasn't eating much and didn't want to participate in all activities. By Thursday, he didn't want to leave at pick-up and ended the week eating breakfast and lunch and doing art projects...even using the potty at school! He seems very happy.
Ben's week was probably the roughest. He was very slow to take a bottle -- eating only 4 oz. all day Monday and was very "sensitive" all day. On Tuesday he completely refused to eat, so I had to drive over mid-day to feed him. I fed him a couple days at pick-up, but after conducting a few bottle experiments, we found what he likes and he was up to eating 10 oz. on Thurs. and Friday!
5 days in, and our routine appears to be in full swing. I didn't cook every night, went to bed at 8 p.m. one night, but kids were fed and Mom and Dad were able to relax. Fingers crossed week 2 goes well too!

Nice work Beth! Isn't it amazing how much more efficient we can be when it's necessary. Let's grab coffee next week :)
